LOWER MAKEFIELD, PA – An alternating single-lane travel restriction controlled by flaggers at each end is scheduled to be implemented along a short section of Woodside Road in Lower Makefield, PA. during overnight hours on Thursday, July 24, and off-peak daytime hours on Friday, July25, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) announced today.
The single-lane traffic pattern is needed so a Commission contractor can repave a section of the eastbound downhill pavement on Woodside Road between Clearview Drive and Taylorsville Road.
The roadway segment’s finish pavement course was applied during late 2021 as part of the Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project. The pavement, however, has become rutted and bumpy. Although the road segment is owned by Lower Makefield, the Commission is assigning one of its job-order contractors to address the issue by milling off the current two-lane eastbound pavement and applying a new asphalt surface.
The alternating single-lane travel restriction is expected to begin 7 p.m. Thursday, July 24. The roadway segment is targeted to be reopened 5 a.m. Friday, July 25 – in time for that morning’s peak commuting period. However, the reopening could be delayed if the new roadway pavement has not sufficiently cooled during overnight hours.
An additional alternating single-lane travel restriction is scheduled to begin approximately 9 a.m. Friday – after the morning-peak commuting period. This would allow for installation of final pavement markings. The road segment is expected to be completed and reopened by 3 p.m. that day.
Motorists using the Woodside Road segment during overnight hours Thursday and off-peak daytime hours Friday are urged to reduce speeds, exercise caution, and follow flagger instructions.
The scheduled work detail and related travel restrictions are subject to change due to weather, emergencies, and other factors.
