MORRISVILLE, PA  -  The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission today announced that a lane-closure moratorium will be put into effect for the Trenton-Morrisville (Route 1) Toll Bridge rehabilitation and widening project over the Labor Day holiday weekend.

The self-imposed moratorium on construction-related lane closures in the Route 1 work zone is intended to help promote unimpeded traffic flow and minimize potential delays for holiday travelers.

The moratorium is scheduled to begin at 12:01 a.m. Friday, August 29, and remain in place until 11:59 p.m. (end of day) Tuesday, September 2. During this five-day period, two lanes of traffic are to be maintained in both the northbound and southbound directions.

Off-peak and weekend lane closures on Route 1 will resume on Wednesday, September 3.

The $102 million Trenton-Morrisville (Route 1) Toll Bridge Rehabilitation Project will improve safety, reduce traffic congestion, speed toll plaza operations and mitigate noise impacts to nearby communities. Plans also include adding a northbound auxiliary lane.

More information about the project is available at www.tmtollbridgerehab.com.
