Anticipated cold weather is forcing postponement of previously posted lane closures for the I-78 Toll Bridge’s Express E-ZPass facility. The lane closures are now rescheduled to begin Dec. 9 instead of Dec. 2.
When instituted, the anticipated westbound-direction lane closures will enable construction crews to repair a series of cracked concrete roadway slabs before the winter storm season sets in.
The highway-speed electronic toll facility’s two travel lanes will be closed during weeknights (Mondays through Fridays) between the hourse of 7 p.m. and 8 a.m. (next day). The facility will repopen will then reopen with a single operational lane during daytime hours — 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. — on weekdays and weekends.
When the Express E-ZPass facility is fully shutdown or partially shutdown, the adjoining toll-both facility will be open to handle E-ZPass transactions as well as cash and TOLL BY PLATE (license plate billing by mail) transactions.
The temporary travel restrictions at the I-78 Express E-ZPass facility are expected to end by the morning of December 21.
